Discover the Best Preschool Program near Strathfield for Your Child’s Early Education

As a parent, one of the most important decisions you will make for your child is where they will attend preschool. At a young age, children are like sponges, absorbing new information and skills at an incredible rate. Therefore, it’s crucial to choose a preschool program that will provide your child with a solid foundation for their future academic and social learning. At Active Kids Homebush, our childcare centre near Strathfield, we are proud to offer a comprehensive preschool program that is designed to give children the best start in life.

Our preschool program is geared towards children aged three to five years old, and it’s designed to support the growth and development of each child. Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which is a nationally recognized program that promotes learning through play. The EYLF is a comprehensive guide that outlines the key outcomes that children should achieve by the time they reach the end of their preschool years.

At our Strathfield childcare centre, we use a play-based approach to teaching, which means that learning is integrated into everyday activities and experiences. Through play, children can develop their social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving abilities. Our childcare in Sydney’s Western Suburbs is structured to provide children with a balance of structured activities and free play, so they can learn at their own pace and in their own way.

Our team of experienced educators works closely with each child to provide individualized support and guidance. We believe that every child is unique, and we strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where they can explore their interests and abilities. Our educators regularly observe and document each child’s progress, and we use this information to create personalized learning plans for each child.

In addition to our play-based curriculum, we also offer a range of extra-curricular activities to enhance each child’s learning experience. These activities include music and movement, art and craft, and outdoor play. We also organize excursions around Homebush and Strathfield to expose children to new experiences and broaden their horizons.

At our childcare centre near Strathfield, we understand the importance of creating a strong partnership with parents and caregivers. We regularly communicate with families to keep them informed about their child’s progress and to involve them in their child’s learning journey. We also encourage parents to participate in centre activities and events, so they can become part of our vibrant and supportive community.

In conclusion, our preschool program at our childcare centre near Strathfield is designed to provide children with a strong foundation for their future academic and social success. Through a play-based approach to learning, individualized support, and a range of extra-curricular activities, we strive to help each child reach their full potential. The NSW Government has introduced a new preschool fee relief program through the Start Strong Affordable Preschool initiative in 2023 as part of its $1.3 billion Affordable Preschool program from the start of 2023.

Families attending a preschool program at a long day care service will receive up to $2110 per year subsidy for every child, who is at least 4 years old, on or before 31 July 2023 and enrolled in a long day care preschool program.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Start Strong Affordable Preschool fee relief program, a child will need to be at least 4 years old on or before 31 July 2023 and not be receiving the fee relief from another service.

All NSW families are eligible regardless of Citizenship or residency status. The Start Strong funding is additional to and will not affect families’ Child Care Subsidy (CCS) payments.

How will it work?

The fee relief payment is an annual flat rate of $2110 per eligible child. You can break this down to a weekly fee relief of $40.57 ($2110/52 weeks) which will be applied to your family’s account as a fortnightly credit.

How do I access the fee relief?

If you are wondering how to claim the Start Strong Affordable Preschool fee relief, contact our Family Relations Team to receive the fee relief declaration form. Families are required to complete a declaration form to nominate the long daycare centre they would like to receive fee relief from.

You can only receive this fee relief at one centre at a time. This is confirmed by the completion of the declaration form.

Healthy Fairy Bread For Your Child

It’s National Fairy Bread Day at your childcare centre! How can we not celebrate such an iconic kids party snack, right? Our Childcare Healthy Living Ambassador, Libby Babet, has created some recipes for you to try that makes these fun rainbow slices of happiness healthier. Check out some different recipes below:

Sesame Seed Fairy Bread:

First star with some whole meal bread and salt reduced butter with no vegetable oils. Libby recommends using ‘Mainland Buttersoft’ butter. After spreading the butter on the bread, it’s best to spread some sesame seeds over the bread so you don’t have to use so many sprinkles. Once you have covered the bread in sesame seeds it’s time to add a few sprinkles to finish off this healthy fairy bread alternative.

Grated Dark Chocolate Fairy Bread

For this child care friendly alternative all you have to do is swap out the sprinkles for dark chocolate. Once again use your whole meal bread, butter and sesame seeds but instead of sprinkles, grate some dark chocolate over the bread. This healthy fairy bread option has a lot less sugar than regular fairy bread and is still super delicious.

Collagen Cookie Fairy Bread

Last but not least, try Libby Babet’s very own ‘Beauty Food’ Collagen Cookie Fairy Bread. Once again use whole meal bread and butter, however swap out the Sesame Seeds for our childcare healthy living ambassadors very own collagen cookies which come in chocolate, berry and peanut butter flavour. You can purchase these Beauty Food Collagen Cookies at your local Woolworths centre or by clicking here.

Check out how these fun and healthy fairy bread alternatives turned out by visiting our daycare Instagram Page.

Help Your Kids Fall In Love With Fitness

Our childcare Healthy Living Ambassador, Libby Babet, has come up with some fun fitness ideas for you to try out. Check out what Libby had to say to get your kids moving when they’re not at one of our childcare centres:

“Here are some tips to help you help your kids fall in love with fitness, and that by the way, this is really important! Kids are hardwired for rewards, so make exercise something fun, exciting, adventurous and something that feels like a reward for them. Hot tip, what you don’t want to do is tell them that they had to do exercise as a break from TV because that is a way to get them hating on it pretty quickly.

Some ways that we turn our family walks into adventures are to take the kids on what we call ‘Night Walks’. We get really pumped, we might bring a glow stick, or a sparkler/torch and we take the kids for a night walk after dinner.

Another cool way to spice up a walk is to go on “Walk About Sundays”, where we all pack a backpack, put our swimmers in it, put a book in it, put some toys in it it and we just head out and we go for a walk. We can stop at a cafe, go for a swim, play in a new park. All these things that really make it so much fun to be out and together as a family.”

Some other suggestions from Libby include “Holiday at Home”, “Active Game Breaks”, “Family Dance Off” and a “Playground Obstacle Course”. To learn more about these fun fitness ideas, check out the full video here on Instagram.

Don’t forget that we also run our Learn and Grow Fitness Classes in our child care centres, so make sure to enrol you child in one of our day care centres today by contacting us here.

Reflective practice at Active Kids Moore Park

Recently our Moore Park Childcare Centre had a story created by BeYou in regards to our statement of Philosophy. Be You is the national mental health in education initiative that equips educators at our childcare centres in Sydney with knowledge, tools and resources to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people from birth to 18 years.

Here is the article about our childcare centre in Zetland:

‘When the team at Active Kids Moore Park reviewed their service’s Statement of Philosophy, the voices of the whole learning community guided the review process.

A community shared vision

The review process started with the educator team dedicating time during staff meetings to reflect on why and what they do, how they came to early childhood education and unpacking the impact of their values and beliefs on their practice.

A goal-oriented process

Reflective practice at Active Kids Moore Park is considered critical for taking informed actions. The educators, the children, families and wider learning community were involved.

Everyone’s active participation in reviewing the philosophy ensured its alignment with their commitment to respecting, valuing and responding appropriately to all voices.

Families and members of the wider learning community were invited to contribute their ideas.

Suzie Braumann, Service Coordinator at Active Kids Moore Park contacted their Be You Consultant, Carmen Huser for support.

Carmen highlighted Be You resources and tools the Be You Statement of Commitment and Planning for Empowerment to incorporate a strong mental health lens in the review process. Carmen offered guidance on involving young children in it to enable the connection between children’s rights to participation and their mental health.

The children’s voices

“Involving the children was also the most rewarding and satisfying part of the review process”, says Suzie.

Whilst the leadership team sought involvement of key community stakeholders, the children’s voices were the most crucial.

Suzie drew on their regular practice of children contributing to the educational program, daily routines, and their Quality Improvement Plan. After speaking to Carmen, Suzie took inspiration from the Be You Implementation story, Including young children’s voices.

With small groups of pre-school children, Suzie led conversations using big boards, visual aids and photos to drive the conversation. Soon children led the conversations.

Children’s authentic participation

The current philosophy statement had headings, such as vision, goals, and the stakeholders: educators, children, families, community. These headings, as well as, the principles underpinning the National Quality Standard formed the basis for the conversations with the children.

They provoked the children to talk about the diversity of families in the community; friendships; their rights; everyone’s feelings and wellbeing. The children’s interpretation of these significantly contributed to the new statement.

Positive relationships, knowing the children, trust and child-friendly time frames made this review process so successful.

The statement is now framed and proudly displayed at the early learning service for everyone to see.

Consider the voices in your service’s Statement of Philosophy: Listen and reflect on the In Focus webinar The voice of the child.

Take a look at the article here and visit the Be You website for more information: https://beyou.edu.au/stories/implementation-support/does-your-statement-of-philosophy-reflect-childrens-voices
