Welcome all, to the world of imagination! Hop across the lily pads, slide down the slippery snake and come to a stop on my magic carpet, ready to fly to a new adventure. In our Dance and Drama Program, creativity, imagination and improvisation are its foundations. Integrated with the Early Years Learning Framework, our goal is for the children to develop in their gross and fine motor skills, self confidence and decision-making, while exploring their interests, healthy practises and topics that the children are learning in their rooms.
Through drama, the children are able to develop their social and verbal communication skills and strengthen their body and facial expression to express different characters, animals and emotions. Our lessons are all inclusive and assists in the development of the children’s cognitive skills and practises coordination and body control. As our program begins with nursery, the children begin strengthening these skills from a young age and prepares them for lifelong learning. In my classes, I include activities that encourage the children to use their voices and have their decisions impact what we learn and the outcomes of the stories we are telling.
This term, we are focusing on “Nurturing Our Growth” which will encourage healthy practises and include a variety of topics of healthy eating, going outdoors, hygiene and physical activity. We will also be exploring how we can take responsibility for our social, physical and emotional well-being and protect our environment.
