Meet Tayla our centre coordinator from Thumbelina
I have been working in the Early Childhood industry for seven years and became a member of the Active Kids Group family in July this year.
I started my journey as a trainee studying a Certificate 3 in children’s services and working full time at a service in North Ryde. At this service I was given the opportunity to engage with children across all age groups from birth to 6 years. While taking on the role as Room Leader and Educational Leader, I completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and continued to then complete a Bachelor of Dance and PDHPE Education (Primary and Secondary). Once I had finished my degree, the Department of Education recognised me as a targeted/ recommended graduate offering me a full time permanent teaching position. Upon securing this teaching position at a high school level, it was clear I had a passion and enthusiasm for Early Childhood Education- which is where I find myself back today.
Engaging with children and students from birth to 18 years has provided me with a significant understanding of child and adolescent development. It has allowed me to appreciate the need for high quality Early Childhood Education and how crucial this industry is to child development and learning. I believe that educators play a crucial role in empowering each child to grow and develop into curious and inquisitive individuals. It is my goal to develop a safe and supportive environment where children are offered open- ended experiences to explore their imaginations, creativity, encourage problem solving, discovery and a thirst for learning.
Active Kids Group has allowed me to create an environment where I can educate and make a significant difference in the children’s, families and staff member’s lives. I am fortunate to work with an amazingly dedicated team at Thumbelina. The sense of community throughout the service is evident and something we are quite proud of. The amazing educators and consistent support from the whole AKG family allows me to continue developing professionally, through my teaching, leading and mentoring.
My main interests include health, fitness and netball. I have played as a representative netballer for many years and have now had the opportunity to coach at that same level. I also love spending time with my friends and family.
My current goal is to continue my professional development by completing my Masters in Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary) with a graduate diploma in Educational Leadership.
