A Little About Grace

My strong passion for all things French, including the language and culture, was ignited when I received an Eiffel tower figurine from my mum on my ninth birthday and since then my passion has grown stronger. I began learning French at the age of 13 and instantly knew I wanted to have a career using the French language. Therefore, I continued learning French for nine years, graduating with a Bachelor of International studies, majoring in French in 2020 at Macquarie University.

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to live and study in France, both at high school and at the Université Catholique de Lyon. Whilst also working at the French creche ‘Le petit prince’, as well as nannying and babysitting French children.

I am grateful to have had these experiences as they have taught me the importance of  language awareness especially within early childhood, as I believe learning language stimulates children’s knowledge and appreciation for the culturally diverse world we live in. It also sparked my desire to have a career in educating young children in the French language to share my passion with them. Due to this I began my current studies of  Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

In 2021, I was privileged enough to join the Active Kids Group as the French Teacher for the Learn and Grow Team, my dream job! The concept of working with young children that assimilated the two notions, French and early childhood, was extremely appealing to me. I admire the forward-thinking concept of the Learn and Grow Program, a specialised and unique curriculum unlike any other.

In my classes we focus on developing French language skills, through reading French stories and engaging activities such as singing and arts and crafts. This allows the children to develop their French whilst being creative.

My goal within my classes is to ignite this same passion I have for the French language and our diverse world, in the children, whilst ensuring that this is undertaken in a nurturing and secure environment, so that the children may develop linguistically but also physically and emotionally.

Working as the French teacher with the Learn and Grow team at AKG is incredibly gratifying. I am grateful for the incredible amount of generosity, encouragement and support I have received, and I am looking forward to continuing to see the children grow.
