World Square Service Coordinator
I have been working in the Early Childhood industry since I joined Active Kids Group in 2011.
I started out in Active Kids Group as a room assistant and worked my way up to second in charge. In 2015 I took on the role of the Service Coordinator of both Active Kids World Square and Active Kids World Tower.
When taking on the role I also embarked in further study, engaging in a Diploma in Early Childhood Education having previously obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Tourism as well as a Certificate III in Childcare Services. Alongside this diploma I also studied for an Advanced Diploma in Front Line Management in the Community Sector.
In 2017, I worked alongside our management team to amalgamate both centres into one centre namely Active Kids World Square.
My role within AKG has allowed me to establish relationships with children, families and the community while also working closely to support and guide the educators in World Square. I am very fortunate to have started out in Active Kids Group working alongside these educators and the majority of these educators still work with Active Kids Group today.
We have a fantastic retention of educators and this is a testament to the team and what they have created at AKG World Square. These amazing educators and lasting friendships as well as the support I get from my management team are the reason I love to work with AKG.
Before embarking on my trip to Australia, that is lasting a little longer than expected, I previously worked as assistant manager and manager of an O2 communication store in Ireland for three years. When I arrived in Australia I travelled around for two years enjoying all it had to offer before taking a procurement role with Transport NSW before finally following my heart and my passion into the Early Childhood Industry.
Some of the achievements and awards I have been a part of include being a member of a four-person team to win the Irish O2 Store of the Year, in 2015 the AKG City Team won Outstanding Service the Year, in 2016 I won the Above and Beyond Award and in 2017 the City Team won the Outstanding Community Service Award. In 2017 both Active Kids World Square and Active Kids World Tower went through the accreditation assessment and rating process and both centres were awarded with Exceeding National Quality Standards.
I believe that the success behind winning these awards was our ability to work as a team. We have a large team who, together, have created a wonderful community with our families and children over the years. This makes our centre feel like a home away from home with a lot of laughter and constant chats with families.
Enjoying life with my two kids, travelling anywhere around Australia or the world and eating anything sweet/chocolatey are three of my favourite things in life. Though most will tell you I am happiest when eating anything at all. I also love to spend my time being outdoors, at the beach, camping, catching up with my family and friends, watching a movie, playing and watching sports or shopping.
My goal is to make all families and children feel part of our AKG family through conversations and community engagement in our activities and events and also to further my career by engaging in study, my next goal is to study a Certificate lV in Training and Assessment.
