GETTING STARTED
Your Guide to Settling In

Getting Started at Active Kids Group
Starting childcare is a big step for both children and families — and we’re here to make it smooth, happy, and stress-free. This guide includes everything you need to know before your first day: play date visits, what to bring, and how to complete your enrolment.
Preparing for the First Day
We offer up to three play dates before your child’s first day. During these relaxed visits, your family can explore the rooms and outdoor spaces, meet our friendly educators, enjoy a short activity or snack, and ease into the daily rhythm at their own pace. These play dates build familiarity and confidence, so your child settles comfortably.
To help your child feel settled and ready, please pack the following:
-
A sheet set for nap time
-
Spare clothing, including underwear and socks
-
A sun-safe hat that covers the face, neck, and ears
-
Formula bottles, if required
-
Dummy in a sealed container (if used)
-
Comforter or cuddly toy, if needed
-
Any medications, handed directly to our educators
Tip: Label everything clearly to help us keep your child’s belongings safe.
What to Bring Each Day
After your tour, our Family Relations Team will guide you through each step of enrolment:
1. Complete your online enrolment form — capturing your child’s routines, needs, and preferences.
2. Provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate and immunisation statement (downloadable from Medicare).
3. Apply for Child Care Subsidy (CCS) through your Centrelink online account.
a. Need help? Our team can assist you through the process.
4. Sign and return the Complying Written Agreement (CWA) included in your confirmation email.
5. Once both your CRN (and your child’s) are provided, confirm your enrolment in Centrelink so we can activate your CCS payments.
6. Your Service Coordinator will then schedule your orientation visits before the first day.
Our Family Relations Team is here every step of the way — call us anytime on (02) 8362 3000 for help with enrolment or subsidy questions.
