Child Care in Sydney CBD: Inside Our World Square Centre

If you're looking for child care in Sydney CBD, you're probably not picturing much outdoor space, or a pirate ship.

That's usually the first thing that surprises families about our World Square centre: despite sitting right in the heart of the city, accessible via World Square and World Tower, children have a big outdoor play space to explore, pirate ship included.

It's the centrepiece of outdoor play here, and along with Hop, the centre's much-loved resident bunny, it's one of the things families mention again and again when they talk about why they love this centre.

A Centre with Real History

World Square has been running since 2004, and it shows in the best way: a strong, dedicated team of long-serving educators who know the families here well. Centre Coordinator Gianny is a great example of that continuity.

She started as a Lead Educator at World Square back in 2015, moved into other roles across Active Kids Group including 2IC and Centre Coordinator at Edgecliff, and after some time away after welcoming a child of her own, has come back to where her journey began. Fittingly, it was her own niece enrolling at World Square back in 2009 that first sparked her interest in early childhood education.

That kind of tenure matters. As one parent, Heidi Guo, puts it:

"The teachers here are very stable and experienced, with long tenure that provides our child with a strong sense of security."

Accessible Child Care in Sydney CBD: Right where city-based families need it

For families searching for child care in Sydney CBD, location is everything.

Located at Level 1, 650 George Street, World Square is about 5 minutes' walk from Town Hall Station and 7 to 10 minutes from Central, right in the heart of World Square itself. For parents commuting into the CBD, that means drop off and pick up can genuinely fit around the working day instead of adding to it.

Hours here run Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm, later than our standard centres, plus casual care any time for families who need more flexibility than a fixed weekly routine allows.

The Rooms:

Honeypots (0-2 years) - Nursery

Caterpillars (2-3 years) - Toddler

Butterflies (3-5 years) - Preschool

More than a CBD address

World Square is genuinely woven into its city community. The centre welcomes regular visits from the Navy, Police, Fire and Rescue, dentists, doctors, and members of the Aboriginal community, alongside incursions like reptile shows and Bandage Bear.

Children also head out on excursions to local events such as NAIDOC in the Park and Lunar New Year in World Square, and visit Castlereagh Fire Station to meet CBD community members firsthand.

On top of the everyday curriculum, families get five fresh meals a day from an onsite chef, a weekly Learn & Grow program covering fitness, dance, drama, language and STEM, a dedicated school readiness program, and a few extras you don't often find in the city: onsite parking, a yoga and mindfulness studio, a purpose-built Kindy Gym classroom, a community lounge, and a herb garden where kids get hands-on with nature and sustainability.

As one family who spent three years at World Square with their two boys shared:

"It's truly felt like a second home for them. The educators are incredibly caring, nurturing, and have become like family.”

Spots are Open For Your Child Care in Sydney CBD

World Square has places open right now across all age groups, and our Refer-a-Family offer is currently running here too. If you've been holding off on city-based childcare assuming there's a long wait, now's a good time to get in touch.
